This is a US Model 1956 First Aid Pouch/Compass pouch from the Cold War era. The nylon pouch is in like new condition. These replaced the M1942 First Aid Pouch that contained a Carlisle bandage. This one could be used to carry the field dressing each individual was issued or a Lensatic compass. They were worn on the web gear, usually on the left suspender. This was done to provide a uniform appearance, accessibility, and since most soldiers are right hand dominate, it did not interfere with weapons firing. The pouch has no damage and does show any wear from use. There is no US stamp on the front. The Alice clip on the back is present and functional. There is no ink stamp on the inside of the flap, I believe this is a foreign made one and not made for or issued by the US military. There are no contents that come with the pouch. This is a nice representative piece from the Cold War era, and is a great choice for the Cold War reenactor.
