United Confederate Veteran Celluloid "A Soldier of Gen'l Forrest
Item #: WR702
This is a Nathan Bedford Forrest celluloid from the United Confederate Veterans reunion period. This is probably the hardest Forrest UCV badge to find out there. A complete one consists of a celluloid of Forrest suspended by a red/white/red ribbon and a hanger. Unfortunately this is only the drop, the hanger and ribbon are missing. The celluloid of General Forrest is 2 1/8" across, and depicts Forrest as a Lieutenant General in the later years of the war. He is shown in a double breasted frock, his hair beginning to turn gray and his face showing the effects of a long, hard fought war. Even though he shows the effects of the war, there is still a fierce, determined look on his face. The back of the badge is missing the celluloid "A Soldier of Gen'l Forrest" with the Confederate battle flag. This was manufactured by the Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark, New Jersey, as printed on the side of the celluloid. While this one is missing a bunch of stuff, it still is a rare celluloid that displays great.
