WWI 2nd Division Oval Portrait Unidentified
Item #: WR758

This is an oval photograph of an unidentified 2nd Division soldier or Marine in an oval bubble glass frame. The photograph was most likely taken overseas after the war in a studio setting. The image is 19 1/4" high by 13 1/4" wide. The subject is dressed in his 1918 uniform. There is no rank insignia visible on his epaulette, and the right sleeve is not visible, but I believe this is a young enlisted man. There are no ribbons above his left pocket, nor any qualification badges below it. The only thing visible is his one overseas stripe on the left sleeve, indicating he has served at least six months overseas. He is seated, and is visible from his puttee's on up. The image is very clear and not degraded in any way. The antique tiger striped frame with bubble glass is in very good condition. I can't make out this stalwart young man's collar insignia or the backing of his patch, but I believe that he was in the Army and not the Marines. Maybe somebody with a better set of eyes can help me out! I've always liked these bubble glass images, and I'm positive you will like this one as well!
