Edo Period Samurai Five Sword Stand

This is a Samurai five sword stand from the late Edo period. I believe the stand is constructed of cedar wood stained a dark color. This antique sword stand measures 15 1/2" wide, 7" deep and 10" tall. The single drawer has an inside diameter of 13 1/8" wide, 3 3/4" deep and 1 3/4" tall. The drawer pull is made up of a brass mount with a light orange cord with tassels. The sword stand displays well, showing only the normal scuffs and nicks from normal use. Most of the scuffing is on the corners. There is a small loss of wood on the left upright, on the corner of the upper outside sword mount. The stand is very sturdy, and will accommodate katanas, wakizashi or tanto length swords. There is some Japanese kanji painted on the bottom of the drawer, but I can't read it. A combat tsuba was in the drawer when this arrived, and will accompany the stand to it's new home. If you have a Japanese sword collection, yu need an authentic stand to display them on.
