This is a US Model 1918 style winter uniform worn by the US Army during World War I. This 1918 tunic and pants were made in New York, as shown by the clothing label of C-G DeLuxe NEW YORK sewn on the left side of the lining. It features the four pocket design with epaulets. The five button coat has the subdued US eagle buttons, with six smaller buttons of the same type for the pockets and epaulets. The coat size buttons are back marked D. EVANS & CO ATLEBORO MASS. The smaller buttons are all back marked "D. EVANS & CO ATT". The coat is fully lined and has one inner pocket. There are no stamped or hand written names anywhere inside the tunic. The left sleeve has a theater made 82nd Division patch sewn on. A red discharge stripe is sewn on below the 82nd patch. Above the left sleeve trim is one gold chevron of bullion, indicating one year of overseas service. The verdigris has caused the bullion to take on a light blue greenish patina. The left side of the collar has the U.S. and crossed rifles of an Infantry officer. The right collar is identical to the left side in appearance. There are no ribbons or any other devices displayed anywhere on the uniform. Each epaulette has a "coffin top" 2nd Lieutenant's bar pinned to it. There is considerable insect damage showing throughout the tunic, with the majority of it being on the right sleeve. The trousers are not identified by a makers label, but I believe they are from the same manufacturer as the tunic. They are in very good condition, with only slight insect damage and no staining or other problems. Instead of using laces at the bottom of the pants legs, this set of trousers uses buttons. This is a nice example of a US Model 1918 uniform worn by an Infantry 2nd Lieutenant of the 82nd "All American" Division. It displays well on a mannequin and will look great in any war room!
