This is a celluloid pinback button for the Home for Confederate Women located in Richmond, Virginia. These small pins were sold to raise money to support the home for destitute female relatives of Confederate veterans. The huge limestone building was built in 1932 on the Confederate memorial Park grounds in Richmond. The last resident of the home passed away in 1941, and the Commonwealth of Virginia gained ownership of the building. It has been renovated and renamed the Stan and Dorothy Pauley Center. It houses museum offices and meeting rooms as well as serving a the headquarters for the Virginia Association of Museums. The button is in good condition, no cracks or chips, but is discolored on the white areas and the pin is still present.
