Excavated Confederate General Staff Officer Button

This is a Confederate General Officer and General Staff Officer's button from the American Civil War. It is in great condition considering it was excavated. This brass coat size button is of a two piece design with a border and measures 25.07 mm. This particular button is listed in Albert's book as CS 8. The button has a beautiful chocolate patina, and is made of brass. There are no nicks or any other damage with this button. The shank is still present, but is loose. There is no visible makers mark on the back. This is an iconic piece that easily identifies with the American Civil War in excellent condition for an excavated example.
