WWI US Enlisted Ground Crew Aviation Patch

This is an enlisted aviation patch worn by ground crew personnel of the US Air Service during World War I. It is a theater made patch and would have been worn by personnel assigned to the different squadrons in a support role, such as mechanics. The patch would have been worn on the left sleeve to denote a specialty and a not a rank that would have been worn on the right sleeve. Originally this patch was square in appearance, but has been cut down when removed from a uniform. It still displays well, and will compliment any WWI US aviation collection.
