This is a piece of Civil War stationary with a lithograph image of Major General George McClellan printed on it. The page of stationary is folded in half, with the inside part being lined for correspondence. The image of McClellan shows him in the classic Napoleonic pose with his right hand inside his frock coat, the left hand behind his back. He is wearing a double breasted frock coat of a Major General. He cradles his sword in his left arm, it still being attached to the sword hangers of his belt. Printed below the image of McClellan is "Magee 136 Chesnut St Phila/MAJ. GENl. GEO. B. McCLELLAN/Entered according to Act of Congress, in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, by J. Magee, in the year 1861." The paper folds open like a card, and is lined in blue ink. These patriotic stationary cards were meant to boost the morale of the Union Army as well as the public. This one is in excellent condition, and will look right at home in any personal effects display, camp setting or ephemera collection. It measures 8" high and 5" wide when folded, and 10" wide when open.
