This is a Soldier's Memorial print for the men of Company H, 132nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The print of the memorial was published by Currier & Ives of New York, New York. It was entered according to ACT of Congress in 1862 by Currier & Ives in the clerk's office of the district court of the United States, for the southern district of New York. The print depicts a colorized spread winged eagle at the top, with the word THE above it and SOLDIER"S MEMORIAL underneath the wings. Two furled US flags fly horizontally beneath the banner bearing the soldier's memorial wording. All in color, below the flags from left to right are Lady Liberty, the US Capital building with troops marching towards it, an image of George Washington within a wreath and lastly Fort Sumter under bombardment at night. Beneath the colorized images are three columns, with a banner spanning all three. The left column is headed on the banner with 132nd Regiment. Below the banner is an image of 1st Lieutenant Isiah W. Willits, who is listed as wounded at Fredericksburg. The names of 38 Privates of the company, along with their wounded or killed in action locations are listed. The center column has an image of Captain Martin M. Brobst. Listed below him are the NCO's, Musicians and Wagoner of the company, along with their wounded or killed in action locations. Also listed in this column are the Regimental officers of the 132nd Pennsylvania. The right hand column has an image of 2nd Lieutenant Philip R. Margerum. Listed below him are another 38 Privates of the company, along with their wounded or killed in action locations. At the bottom of the left column are the engagements the regiment was engaged in: Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. The bottom of the center column lists when the regiment mustered into service, 14 August, 1862 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The bottom of the right column shows the muster out date of May, 1863. This unit memorial is housed an an very attractive gold and white wooden frame that measures 19 3/4" wide and 23 3/4" high. Overall it has a fantastic look to it, and will really add a splash of color to your Pennsylvania themed Civil War room!
