This is a receipt for payment in the amount of three pounds to Captain Amaja Loomis from the state of Connecticut. No research has been done on Captain Loomis, but I assume he served with the Connecticut militia during the American Revolution. This small preprinted form measures 6" wide and 5" high and remains in excellent condition. It reads:
STATE of CONNECTICUT
PAY TABLE, OFFICE Decemr 22nd 1781
SIR,
PAY Capt Amasa Loomis
Three Pounds out of the Tax
of Two Shillings and Six Pence on the pound, grant-
ed in May laft, exclusive of that part payable in
State Bills, and charge the State.
L.3 William Moseby } Commitee
Finn Wadsworth }

John Lawrence, Efq, Treafurer

The signatures of Captain LoomisMoseby and Wadsworth are hand written in ink, along with the amount of three pounds. On the back side of the document , hand written in ink is Order 209543/Capt Amaja Loomis/Esq/Decemr 22_1781. Also hand written in ink running parallel with the edge of the paper is the signature Amaja Loomis Capt. There is some research to be done here. This is an interesting document, one I suspect is payment for services rendered by Captain Loomis during the Revolutionary War. It will fit into your Rev War document collection very well.
