UCV Forrest Staff Badge Unnamed

This is an unnamed Forrest Staff Badge from the United Confederate Veterans. These badges were usually assigned to persons of high standing within the UCV community, and can usually be associated as having served in a staff position. Unfortunately this one does not have a name on it. The badge is made up of a hanger this is marked STAFF, a blank name plate and an intricate gilt medallion with an early image of Nathan Bedford Forrest in the center. A red ribbon is securely attached to the badge. The hanger and medallion are both manufactured by Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark, New Jersey. The badge is in very good condition, the ribbon has been cut at an angle, but is not frayed or unraveled. I have no idea what reunion or who this badge was meant for, but it still displays like a million bucks. This could very well be the centerpiece to your UCV collection.
