This is a copy of Yank magazine with a date of 30 July, 1944. It was a magazine that was written by soldiers and published by the Army for soldiers. The idea for the magazine came from Egbert White, who had worked on the Stars and Stripes newspaper during World War I. The first issue was published on 17 June, 1942 and the final edition was dated 28 December, 1945. This magazine, Volume 3 Number 7, is a British Edition. The British Edition was first introduced with Issue 21, and closely followed the USA edition. The 24 page magazine featured stories on current military operations, battles, news and sports from the home front and the ever popular military and political cartoons. This magazine is complete and is in fair condition. There is no damage from staining, just a couple of small ears along the edges of the paper and some yellowing from age. This edition covers American forces taking the French town of La Haye du Puits, an anti aircraft gun crew in Normandy, state absentee voting, various stories of soldiers in the ETO, a short story of a squad capturing a German held position in Italy, News from Home, Mail Call, the Sports Parade and an interview with Admiral Chester Nimitz. The magazine is full of great photographs of American soldiers in action, their equipment and weapons as well as enemy personnel. This will make a great addition to any personal effects or camp display.
