WWII Eisenhower Jacket 95th Infantry Division

This is a Model 1943 enlisted mans Eisenhower jacket from World War II. This style of jacket became popularly known as the Eisenhower, or "Ike" jacket during World War II. The 1943 version of the jacket the sleeves have adjustable cuffs, a throat closure tab, adjustable buckle waist straps, two inner pockets and the front pockets have a single button each. A quartermaster tag is sewn into the right inner pocket. It reads "Jackets, Field,/Wool, O.D./Stock No. 55-J-384-660/38S/T.D.M. CLOTHING/MFG. CORP./Cont. W36-030-44/qm-5976/Dated June 8, 1944/Pattern Dated 5/10/44/Spec. P.Q.D. No. 437/Phila Q.M. Depot" with a space for the inspector's stamp below. A small tag sewn into the collar also shows this one to be a size 38S. The unit patch on the left sleeve is of the 95th Infantry Division. Below the 95th patch are the chevrons of a Technician Fourth Grade, and two overseas stripes sewn above the left sleeve cuff. The right sleeve has the Technician Fourth Grade chevrons and a Meritorious Unit patch sewn on it. The 95th Infantry Division was ordered into active service on 15 July, 1942 and reorganized at Camp Swift, Texas. The division sailed for Europe on 10 August, 1944, arriving in England on 17 August, 1944. Their first taste of combat would come on 19 October, 1944 at the Moselle bridgehead. The 95th (Victory) Division would make a name for itself in and around the town of Metz, repulsing repeated German attacks to retake the town. They picked up another nickname there, The Iron Men of Metz. They would fight in France and on into Germany. During t's time in combat the 95th Infantry Division suffered 1205 killed in action, 4945 wounded, 61 missing and 380 POW's. The division earned one Presidential Unit Citation and four campaign streamers. 95th Infantry Division soldiers earned 1 Medal of Honor, 18 Distinguished Service Crosses, 1 British Military Cross, 14 Legion of Merit Medals, 665 Silver Stars, 15 Soldier's Medals, 2992 Bronze Stars and 162 Air Medals. The Tech Four of the 95th Infantry Division that wore this uniform wears the collar brass of the Infantry on the left side and US on the right side of the collar. There are three ribbons pinned above the left breast pocket, the American Defense Service Medal, a World War I Victory Medal with one star device and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three campaign stars. Pinned above the ribbons is a Combat Infantryman's Badge, missing some of the blue enamel paint on the shield. The "Ruptured Duck" for an honorable discharge is sewn above the right pocket. There are no names or laundry numbers written in the jacket. Included with the jacket is a pocket sized edition new testament and a "Bravest of the Brave" 95th Division pocket sized history book. This "Ike" jacket is in very good condition and will be a welcomed addition to any WWII collection.
