This is an edition of the Stars and Stripes newspaper with a date of 20 January, 1945. It is a daily American military newspaper that reports on matters concerning the United States Armed forces and their communities, primarily those serving overseas. The first edition was reportedly printed on 9 November, 1861 by members of three Illinois Infantry Regiments camped in Bloomfield, Missouri. Finding the local newspaper office empty, they decided to print a paper about themselves and their activities. The Stars and Stripes Museum and Library is now located in Bloomfield. Stars and Stripes has been in print regularly since WWI. This newspaper, Volume 5 Number 67, is a London Edition. The 8 page paper featured stories on current military operations, battles, news and sports from the home front and the ever popular military and political cartoons. This magazine is complete and is in fair condition. There is no damage from staining, just a couple of small tears along the edges of the paper and some yellowing from age. The newspaper is full of great photographs of American soldiers in action, their equipment and weapons as well as enemy personnel. This will make a great addition to any personal effects or camp display.
