WWII Italian M30 Mess Kit

This is an Italian M30 mess kit used during World War II. The kit consisted of a cooking pot with wire handle and a lid with handle to serve as a plate or bowl. After the Italian surrender in September of 1943, the German troops in Italy took the majority of Italian Army's supply of food, uniforms, equipment, weapons and ammunition when they retreated. Equipment and weapons were reissued to the German Army, this mess kit being one of the items. Before reissuing this mess kit it was repainted green, with most of it wearing of during actual field use. There are no makers marks or stamps on the mess kit anywhere. It displays well and will look good in any collection.
