This is a Signals Satchel No. 2 for the WS 38 radio used by the British Army during WWII. The satchel measures 7" high, 10" wide and 4 1/2" deep. The heavy canvas satchel is in very good, possibly unissued condition. This one has a single shoulder strap, and is the configuration used by the British airborne. It has two internal compartments and was intended to carry batteries and junction boxes, but could be used to carry any of the other components of the WS 38 wireless radio set. It has several ink stamps on the inside of the flap, M.W & S.L 1943, ZA13347, DENMARK and a red colored inspectors stamp. The first stamp is the manufacturer and date, the second is the stores code and the other two may be markings applied after the war. All buckles and straps are present, all stitching is strong and unbroken and there is absolutely no damage or staining any where. If you collect WWII British items, especially communication equipment, then you need to take a good at this.
