WWII Japanese Officer's Small Map Case
Item #: WR1079

This is a leather Japanese officer's small map case used during World War II. The case measures 6 1/4" wide, 8 3/4" high and 1 1/2" deep. The map case has three individual compartments. This is an early war case, as indicative of the stitched star on the outer flap. Later cases had a circle stitched on the flap instead of a star. All of the stitching on the case is still strong and unbroken except in one spot, there is some broken stitching on the right side "ear" of the outer flap. The closure strap and finial are missing. The two leather straps on the back of the case that attach the leather shoulder sling are broken, both roller buckles are missing. While this one can no longer be displayed on a mannequin, it would still look good on a table with a map spread out beside it!
