WWII Imperial Japanese Army Bread Bag
Item #: WR1086

This is a Zatsuno, which translated means "bag for miscellaneous items", more commonly referred to as a bread bag used by the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII. The term haversack would probably be more appropriate since the Japanese soldier carried most anything he needed to survive in the field in it. But since they copied the German bread bag for their design, most collectors refer to them in kind. The bag measures 8" high, 11 1/2" wide and 5" deep at the deepest point. The lightweight canvas bag is in very good condition. It has a single shoulder strap, and all closure points are tie straps, to include the omitted carry hook. It has only one internal compartment and was intended to carry the soldier's personal items along with one days rations in the field. It has some kanji on the inside of the outer flap. The shoulder strap buckle and all tie straps are present, all stitching is strong and unbroken and there is absolutely no damage or staining any where. If you collect WWII Japanese items, especially field gear, then you need to take a good look at this.
