WWII German Hitler Youth Banner

This is a Hitler Youth banner from the World War II period. This one is a very desirable size, measuring 55" wide and 28" high. It is constructed of two panels of red and one panel of white cotton fabric. A white diamond shaped panel with a black canted swastika printed on it is sewn in the center of the red field. This flag is two sided. A 2" sleeve is sewn into the top of the banner for display. This style of banner was designed to suspended from a horizontally mounted bar either on the outside or inside of buildings. The colors of the flag remain very vibrant, with the red field showing no discoloration or fading. There is no staining on the flag on either side. The white field of the swastika shows no staining either. There are no major rips or tears in the banner, but there are a few small moth holes on the front side of the white diamond shaped piece of fabric. These flags represented the Hitlerjugend, Hitler Youth, the only official youth organization in Germany from 1933 to 1945. This paramilitary organization was for boys aged 14 to 18. They learned military skills such as drill and marching, and were organized in units with a command structure similar to the military. These made prized souvenirs for the allied soldiers, and this one most likely made it's way back to the states in some GI's duffel bag after the war.
