This is a set of US Model 1911 leather leggings for mounted US troops. The mounted forces switched from canvas leggings to leather in 1911, hence the model designation. This set has a beautiful chocolate brown appearance. All the leather strap, guides and roller buckles are present and unbroken. Unfortunately, the stitching that holds the two halves together on one of the leggings is completely gone. The two halves could be stitched back together without much problem, and then the new owner would have a very nice pair. Many of the mounted troops on the Mexican Expedition wore this type of legging. These were eventually replaced in 1917 by the new leather lined canvas style the Army switched to. These would really look great in a 1916 Mexican border display.
