WWII Japanese Leather Binocular Case Named to 1LT Kishi
Item #: WR1107

This is a leather binocular case used by a Japanese officer during World War II. The leather neck strap is missing from the case. The closure tab is not the typical type found on Japanese binocular cases, this one does not use the spring tension type tab. The case itself is in good condition, but does have broken stitching on the right side of the cover. The top left loop for the shoulder strap is missing. There are belt loops riveted onto the back of the case. The top of the case has kanji written in white paint that reads First Lieutenant Kishi. Another unique aspect of the case is the closure tab for the top of the case. There is a US Army 13 star button that has been used to reattach the closure tab to the top of the case. Did the Lt take the button from an American soldier to repair his binocular case, or did the American soldier that took the case from 1LT Kishi make that field expedient repair? If only this thing could talk. My opinion, the GI that brought this home from the Pacific theater used one of his own buttons to make the repair to the case. In either case, it has some awesome display power and will look good in your Pacific theater collection.
