WWII German Podium Banner

This is a German podium banner from the World War II period. This one is a very desirable size, measuring 26 1/2"" wide and 37 1/2" high. It is constructed of a single panel of red cotton fabric. A white disc with a black canted swastika is sewn in the center of the red field. The swastika is printed on the white field. A white 1 1/2" strip of white rayon material is sewn onto the red panel, and a 2 1/2" white fringe border is sewn along the bottom edge. This banner was designed to be hung from a podium, and all three rings are still present. The colors of the banner remain very vibrant, with only three small spots of discoloration on the entire banner. There is no staining on the banner on either side. The white field of the swastika shows one small spot of discoloration, the rayon strip has one and one can be found in the red. All three are smaller than an old number two pencil eraser. There are no rips, tears or moth holes in the fabric. It seems that any German flag was considered a prized souvenir for the allied soldiers, and this one most likely made it's way back to the states in some GI's duffel bag after the war. If you have the wall space, this podium banner still has some amazing display power!
