Clipped Signature of Fitzhugh Lee

This is a clipped signature of Fitzhugh Lee, Confederate General during the Civil War. Lee's signature comes with a colored image of him on horseback, along with a brief biography on him. This collective of Fitzhugh Lee comes in a wooden frame, with the items being double matted. The red and gray matting really makes the items stand out. The clipped signature is very clear and legible. The paper it is written on is clean and has no visible tears. The signature measures 3" wide and 1 1/4" high. The bio of Lee reads as this, "Fitzhugh Lee (1835-1905), even of he had not been a nephew of Robert E. Lee, would be remembered as one of the youngest and ablest cavalry commanders in the Civil War. A West Point graduate, his cavalry career began with Maj. General J.E.B. Stuart. He quickly rose from first lieutenant to major general and led a brigade at Antietam, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Severely wound at the third Battle of Winchester, Lee remained out of action until near the end of the war, when he became R.E. Lee's chief of cavalry corps. He surrendered just after Appomattox. A farmer, Lee served as governor of Virginia, and consul general in Havana, Cuba, on the eve of the Spanish American War, and became a major general in the U.S. Volunteer Army at the head of the VII Corps in Cuba."
