WWII Japanese Officer's Map & Document Case

This is a leather Japanese officer's map and document case used during World War II. The case measures 8 3/8" wide, 11 3/4" high and 4" deep. The map case has three individual compartments. This is an early war case, as indicative of the stitched star on the outer flap. Later cases had a circle stitched on the flap instead of a star. All of the stitching on the case is still strong and unbroken. The closure strap and finial are present and securely attached. The two leather straps on the back of the case that attach the leather shoulder sling are present, both rings are securely attached. The only thing missing is the shoulder strap. This one would look great displayed on a mannequin!
