Unidentified M1 Style Bayonet with M8A1 Scabbard

This is an unidentified M1 style bayonet made for the M-1 Garand rifle with an M8A1 scabbard. This bayonet is not maker marked on the cross guard or blade. I suspect this one was manufactured overseas, but not sure where. The bayonet has an overall length of 11", with a blade length of 6 1/2". The standard length blade on an M1 bayonet is 10". This type bayonet was designed to be used with the M1 rifle, but could also be used as a fighting knife or utility knife. The spear point style blade, cross guard and pommel are all parkerized. The two piece grips are made of black plastic and are in good condition. The M8A1 scabbard is in very good condition. The web hanger is equipped with the M1910 style hook. The 5 1/2" drop without the 1910 style hanger puts the scabbard in the post World War II era. It has a makers mark, V.P. CO. The scabbard tip does have the metal guard to prevent the bayonet from coming through. The metal throat is stamped M8A1/V.P. CO. This is a very unusual combination, with what would appear to be an M1 bayonet hilt with an M5 foreign made blade attached to it. A unique combination that I'm sure is missing from most collections.
