Reproduction WWII 1st Pattern 2nd Marine Division Patch

This is a reproduction 1st pattern 2nd Marine Division patch from the WWII period. The patch measures 3" wide and 3 5/8" high. The patch is diamond shaped with a blue background and white border. In the center of the patch is a red serpent with the word GUADALCANAL sewn in yellow thread. Surrounding the serpent are five white five point stars that represent the Southern Cross, the most prominent constellation in the southern hemisphere. The one piece patch is all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on the patch at all. The 2nd Marine Division was formed on 1 February, 1942 in San Diego, California. During World War II the 2nd Marine Division was engaged in the Guadalcanal campaign, the Battle of Tarawa, the Battle of Saipan, the Battle of Tinian and the Battle of Okinawa. The overall condition of this reproduction WWII period 2nd Marine Division patch is excellent.
