This is an US Model 1904 first aid pouch used in World War I. The pouch is in excellent, issued condition. The khaki color is still very vibrant, and has no staining. The canvas has no holes, rips or tears. The stitching is very tight and has no breaks or frays. The closure snaps work perfectly. The carrying bail is still present. The inside of the flap is ink stamped 71/CAC/015 and the pouch itself is lightly stamped RIA 1910 in one line. The reverse of the pouch is ink stamped 50 over crossed cannons with 149 under the cannons. The letters P A have been written in ink to the left and right of the cannons. This pouch is constructed differently than most. The M1910 wire hanger is not secured to the pouch by being sewn on like most, but simply passes through two metal eyelets. I believe this one is actually a model produced in 1904 or possibly earlier. Everyone who served in an overseas capacity carried one of these on their web gear. Great example of an early WWI first aid pouch that will complete your web gear!
