This is a post card image of a young German soldier taken at an unknown location during World War I. The card measures 3 7/16" wide and 5 3/8" high. The image shows an unidentified German soldier in full field uniform standing for an outdoor portrait. He appears to be standing at the edge of a road beside a vine covered wall. He looks to be wearing the M1916 uniform with the trousers tucked into his "Jack" boots. He wears a waist belt with Imperial German Army buckle and GEW 98 ammunition pouches and 1884/98 bayonet scabbard. In his right hand he grips a Gewehr 98 rifle with a fixed Model 1884/98 bayonet. He is wearing a Pickelhaube helmet with cloth camouflage cover. You can just make out his bedroll horseshoed around his pack. The back of the card has hand written information in pencil, but no postal cancellation stamps. This post card image will make a nice addition to your WWI image collection.
