This is a set of two newspapers from Charleston, South Carolina, both dated during World War II. One is the Charleston Evening Post, the other the News and Courier, both newspapers serving the Charleston area. The Charleston Evening Post is a Final Edition and is dated 11 December, 1941. It is mounted on foam board and sealed, so I don't know how many pages there are from this edition. The headline for this Thursday in 1941 reads, "Germany And Italy At War With U.S." There are no photos on the front page, just a map showing the areas of fighting at that time in the Pacific. There are numerous articles on the front page that relate to the war, from Japanese ships being sunk by American forces, attacks on Wake Island repulsed, Hitler says Germany is at war with the US and Congress voting for war. The paper is in good condition, with no evidence of damage showing. The pages are slightly yellowed, but all text and images are perfectly legible. The News and Courier is an Extra Edition and is dated 7 December, 1941. It is mounted on foam board and sealed as well. The head line for this Sunday in 1941 reads "U.S., JAPAN AT WAR". There is one photo on the front page of a naval officer and a map of the Pacific Frontier. The articles showing on the front page all relate to the attack on Pearl Harbor, from Pearl Harbor Raided; Big Loss of Life Likely to 350 Reported Killed In Raid. The paper is in good condition and shows no evidence of damage. The pages are slightly yellowed, but all text and images are perfectly legible. The two newspapers will go great with your WWII documents collection.
