This is a set of two US Ninth Corps patches from the World War II period. The patches measure 2 7/8" across. The patches are round in shape, having the Roman numerals IX in red in the center of a blue background with a red circular border near the patch edge. The US Ninth Corps was first organized on 25-29 November, 1918 in Ligny-en-Barrios, France. It was demobilized on 5 May, 1919 at Nogent-en-Bassigny, France. During the period between WWI and WWII the Seventh Corps was relegated to the reserve system. The US Eighth Corps was fully activated in the Regular Army on 24 October, 1940 at Ft Lewis, Washington. It operated in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and received a campaign streamer for the Asiatic Pacific campaign. These one piece patches are all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on the patches. One patch has never been on a uniform, the other has been removed from a uniform. If you collect WWII US patches you gotta have one of these.
