This is a set of US Army Fourteenth Corps patches from the World War II period. The patches measure 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" high. The patch is in the shape of a gray shield, having the design of a four point red star super imposed over a blue X and having a gray border. The four points of the star, along with the letter X make up the number fourteen. The US Fourteenth Corps was first constituted on 29 July, 1921 and allocated to the Organized Reserves. It was activated in December, 1942, and directed American 23rd and 25th Infantry Divisions, the Marine 2nd Division and the 147th Regimental Combat Team in the final drive that expelled the Japanese Army from Guadalcanal early in February, 1943. The Fourteenth Corps fought for over two years in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and received campaign streamers for the Guadalcanal, Northern Solomons, Bismarck Archipelago and the Luzon campaigns. These one piece patches are all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on the patches, they have never been on a uniform. If you collect WWII US patches you gotta have one of these.
