This is a set of US Army Sixteenth Corps patches from the World War II period. The patches measure 3 7/16" at the widest point and 4" at the highest point. The patch is in the shape of a shield, having the design of a compass rose in blue and white on a green background and having a blue border. The rose and the cardinal points represent the unit number of sixteen and the blue and white colors designate the corps colors. The US Fifteenth Corps was first constituted on 1 October, 1933 and allocated to the Organized Reserves. It was activated on 7 December, 1943, at Fort Riley, Kansas. The Sixteenth Corps fought in the European Theater of Operations, and received campaign streamers for the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. These one piece patches are all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on the patches, they have never been on a uniform. If you collect WWII US patches you gotta have one of these.
