This is a Model 1910 wool US Army uniform circa 1912. These particular uniforms are sometimes referred to as the 1916 uniform. The wool is of a higher quality than that found in later uniforms. Instead of the bellows types pockets, the jacket has four flat pockets. It has the standing collar that is closed using two latch and hooks. The US and Infantry disks are on the collar. Below the crossed rifle insignia of the Infantry is the letter K. The sleeves have plain cuffs with a single row of stitching approximately 1 1/2" from the cuff. The coat is fully lined and has tapered shoulder tabs. An ink stamp on the liner shows this jacket is a size 38. There are five large subdued Eagle buttons on the front of the jacket, with six smaller ones, one on each pocket and one on each shoulder tab. All of the buttons are rimmed. The left sleeve has a discharge stripe and one gold overseas chevron sewn on. There was a unit patch sewn on at one time, but it is no longer with the jacket. The wool pants have two front slit pocket and a watch pocket. There are also two pockets on the back of the pants. There is no adjustment tab on the back of the pants. The lower legs are fitted with laces. There are five buttons on the fly, the top one stamped U.S. Army while the other four are stamped U.S.A. The pants are reinforced in the knee and thigh area. The jacket has no damage at all. The pants have two small moth holes and one small hole, both in the knee area. The jacket and pants have quartermaster tags. The jacket has a quartermaster label printed "Sigmund Eisner CO. Red Bank, N.J. Contract April 10th 1917 Philadelphia Depot." The label is ink stamped with sub inspector stamp that reads "SUB. DEPOT RED BANK J. Carbol". The pants have a quartermaster tag sewn onto the inner pocket flap. The stamp reads "J.N. Susskind & CO. Contract June 28, 1917 Specification No. 1861 Philadelphia Depot Q.M.C." This is a high quality US Army uniform from World War I that has managed to survive for a little 100 years pretty much as it was when new.
