WWII US Officer's Short Overcoat
Item #: WR27

This is a US Army World War II officer's short doeskin wool overcoat. This magnificent example has absolutely no damage, stains or any other detractors. It has an eight button double breasted front with two flap hip pockets, epaulettes and an inner slash pocket on the left breast. All buttons are present and are the smooth, clear lucite style. The coat is fully lined with pink satin and has two ink stamps, one near the collar and the other on the inside of the left outer pocket. It looks to be a contract number, F-O-1185543, or perhaps a lot number. This coat doe not have a regulation Army Officer's overcoat tag on the lining, but there is a quartermasters tag inside the slash pocket. It reads "Overcoats, Wool Doeskin, O. D. 26oz. (Officers) Short MFR. 105". The tag shows the size to be a 40R. It is dated 26 November, 1942 and is from the Philadelphia Depot. I do not believe that this overcoat was ever issued. This one has no waist belt, as it was not designed with one. This would look great with an AAF display, or an Army officers dress uniform display.
