This is a German World War II enlisted man's collar tab for the 15th Latvian Grenadier Division. This division, filed with Latvian volunteers and conscripts, was formed in February of 1943. They were not allowed to wear the SS runes collar tab because they were not German. They wore a blank collar tab until March of 1943, when a swastika tab called the Latvian Fire Cross was introduced. This unit designation collar tab is made of black wool construction, made to be worn on the right side collar. It features an eleven point sunburst pattern encompassing three stars within a semi circular border and two downward curved stripes all in silver/gray rayon thread. The collar tab is mounted on a tan buckram backing. This tab is an excellent condition example of a non German Divisional collar tab from World War II.
