Model 1956 First Aid/Compass Pouch
Item #: WR137
This is a US Model 1956 First Aid Pouch/Compass pouch from the Vietnam era. The cotton pouch is n used but good condition. These replaced the M1942 First Aid Pouch that contained a Carlisle bandage. This one could be used to carry the field dressing each individual was issued or a Lensatic compass. They were worn on the webgear, usually on the left suspender. This was done to provide a uniform appearance, accessibility, and since most soldiers are right hand dominate, it did not interfere with weapons firing. The pouch has no damage but does show honest use. The US stamp on the front is faded but legible. The Alice clip on the back is present and functional. The initials PAG are written on the back of the pouch. The ink stamp on the inside of the flap is legible, and shows the markings for either first aid or compass, NSN, and is dated 1961. The contents of the pouch are one field dressing with two pins, one sterile dressing and two band aids. All of the items are still sealed in their original packages. This will go great in an early Vietnam display.
