Item #: WR174
This is a riker case with one Civil War bullet, a fired percussion cap, and a depiction of a Cavalryman mounted holding a Sharps carbine. The bullet, a .52 caliber Sharps bullet, was recovered in Nashville, Tennessee. The fired percussion cap was recovered in Middle Tennessee as well. The parchment style paper has been labeled ".52 Caliber Sharps", along with the identification of each relic. Several different models of the Sharps carbine were used during the Civil War by both sides. The Model 1852 Slant Breech, the New Model 1859 and 1863 Sharps carbines, firing the .52 caliber Sharps bullet, was one of the principal carbines used by the Confederate Cavalry throughout the war. The case measures 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" high. It has been provisioned on the back to hang from two nails or screws. This will make an inexpensive birthday or Christmas present for the Civil War collector in the family.
