Civil War Riker Case Model 1842 Musket

This is a riker case with one Civil War bullet, a fired percussion cap, and a depiction of a Model 1842 musket. The bullet, a .69 caliber ball, and the percussion cap was recovered in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The parchment style paper has been labeled "Model 1842 Musket", along with the identification of each relic. The Model 1842 musket, firing the .69 caliber round ball, was one of the principal long arms used by the Confederate Army in the early days of the war. The case measures 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" high. It has been provisioned on the back to hang from two nails or screws. This will make an inexpensive birthday or Christmas present for the Civil War collector in the family.
