Item #: WR179

This is a blacksmith forged picket pin from the Civil War era. The iron pin measures 12 1/4" long and is 1/4" wide. These were used to allow the horse to graze while still saddled and ready to ride. The pin would be pushed or hammered into the ground and the lead rein would be tied to the loop of the loop. The Union Cavalry had an arsenal issued picket pin they used, as with everything else, the Confederate Army had to make do with whatever they could obtain. This picket pin shows some honest use, yet still retains it's original shape. If you have a Confederate cavalry collection, you need one of these!
