The Springfield Model 1861 rifled musket, firing the .58 caliber bullet, is the best known rifle of the Civil War. The Springfield rifled musket was the main long arm used by Union troops during the war. The case measures 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" high. It has been provisioned on the back to hang from two nails or screws. This will make an inexpensive birthday or Christmas present for the Civil War collector in the family.
