This is an "Official" Camp Gordon Songbook from World War I. This pocket sized edition measure 6" tall and 4" wide. The 82nd "All American" Division was formed on 25 August, 1917 at Camp Gordon near Atlanta, Georgia. The Division was formed and trained at Camp Gordon for almost eight months, when it departed for France on 25 April, 1918. This small songbook was printed to help the local economy of Atlanta as well as boost morale of the troops. There are 27 songs printed throughout the book, mixed among advertisements for local Atlanta businesses. For a small pamphlet printed just over 100 years ago it is in amazing condition! I have only seen one other songbook like this, and it was in pretty poor condition. Some of the songs include The Star Spangled Banner, America, Home Fires Burning, My Old Kentucky Home and Dixie to name a few. This is something you just don't see very often, and if you are a serious 82nd Division collector here's a chance to own what may be the best one around!
