Excavated Bit Recovered From a Middle Tennessee Cavalry Camp

This is an excavated horse bit from a Middle Tennessee Civil War Cavalry Camp. The camp was used several times by Yankees and Rebels. This is the second bit of this type recovered from this camp location. I believe that they are for a horse or mule team for a supply wagon. This one is broken on the left side and missing the curb chain, probably struck by a plow.
