This is an illustrated page from the article printed by Harper's Weekly concerning the engagement at Newport News, Virginia. The article is dated 22 March, 1862 and is in excellent condition. It measures 11" wide and is 16" tall. The one page section of the article is mounted on a piece of cardboard and is protected by shrink wrap. This one page from the Harper's Weekly looks just the way it did when it was printed 157 years ago. There are no smudges, stains, rips, tears, creases or folds on the page. The hand colored illustrations show the Newport News Battery before the engagement and Brigadier General Mansfield and his staff at Newport News during the fighting. The article looks like it could have been printed yesterday! If you collect Civil War documents this piece will fit right in!
