US Model 1879 Combination Gun Tool

This is a US Model 1879 combination gun tool developed for the 45/70 Springfield rifle and carbine. The tool was made specifically to work on the lock. It was an improvement of the M1873 combination tool. The tool incorporated a mainspring clamp, two screwdrivers, and a band spring and tumbler punch. The tool measures 2 5/8" long and 1" wide at the punch. It is stamped US/MOD 1879. This will compliment your Trapdoor collection.
