Item #: WR316

This is an excavated Richmond style CS two piece buckle produced during the American Civil War. This sand cast brass plate has all the casting flaws and file marks that every collector wants to see. It measures 50 x 84 mm and is very similar to plate 001 listed in Steve Mullinax's Confederate Belt Buckles & Plates book. This style of two piece CS buckles are the more commonly recovered ones in mid to late war Virginia Confederate campsites. The buckle has tremendous eye appeal, with the wreath and tongue having a perfectly matching patina. It will certainly fit into any Confederate collection, and could be the center piece to many collections!
