This is a US Model 1910 Pick Mattock and canvas carrier set used during World War II. This three piece set is in very good condition. The canvas carrier is maker marked with an ink stamp, but I can't make out who it is. The date appears to be 1944. The canvas has no damage and is stain free. The wooden handle is in good condition and still retains the original OD paint. It measures 17" in length and 2 1/2" at the widest point. The pick mattock also retains the majority of the original paint. It measures 13 1/4" in length and 2 1/4" across the mattock. The side of the pick is stamped US/WARWOOD/43. The carrier is equipped with a M1910 hook so the pick mattock set can be carried on a cartridge belt, pistol belt or pack. This set, along with the M1910 or M1943 shovel, enabled thousands of front line US Infantrymen to become soil experts in Europe and the Pacific. This will be right at home in an Infantry or vehicle display.
