US Army Artic Canteen Set

This is a one quart canteen set developed for use in arctic conditions for the US Army during the 1960's. This canteen set consists of a one quart corrosion resistant steel, or stainless steel canteen, cotton duck carrier and CRS or stainless steel cup. The plastic canteens of that time were not practical for arctic conditions. They froze easily and did not keep hot liquids for an extended period of time, thus the need for a newer, better arctic canteen. This set is in used, good condition. The cotton duck carrier is equipped with two ALICE clips. It is ink stamped on the front with the US, and on the back with the nomencalture, contract and stock numbers. The cup is stamped on the handle with US/LANDERS, FRARY & Clark. the canteen is stamped U.S./WYOTT/71 on the neck. While designed for arctic conditions, it is well known that Special Forces groups in Vietnam favored suing these canteens. This is one you don't run into very often.
