Virginia Style CSA Rectangle on the Original Belt

This is a Virginia style CSA rectangle buckle on the original leather belt. The buckle measures 48mm x 71mm, and is thinner than the Atlanta Arsenal "Tennessee" style buckles. The plate is in solid condition, retaining it's original shape with no bends or twists. The sand casting flaws on the face and back of the buckle just scream Confederate! All three hooks are still securely mounted to the back of the plate. This one truly has that black, out of the attic, undisturbed patina that only acquired through a century and a half of aging. The only hint that this belt plate is even brass is along the edges of the letters and periods between them. The belt itself is made of black leather. The belt has an overall length of 32 3/4", with a width of 1 5/8". The leather is still very supple and pliable, but shows quite a bit of crazing and loss of color. It has been repaired at some point, with the leather being put back together about 3 1/2" from the double hooks. The repair was performed in such as way that it is not noticeable from the front side of the belt. While this belt rig may not be strong enough to be displayed on a mannequin, it still has some awesome display power! If you are a Confederate buckle collector, this one will really stand out in your collection.
