This is a United Confederate Veterans flag from the early 1900's, circa 1900 - 1920. The flag measures 22 1/2" by 33" and is complete with bullion fringe on three sides and pole ties. There are just a couple of spots along the bottom edge where the fringe is missing, but nothing major. The flag represents the Confederate 1st National flag with eight stars. There is no heading, instead there are three sets of ties along the leading edge. These would have been used to secure the flag to a staff. The colors of the flag are still very vibrant, and contrast well with the silver bullion fringe. The stars are hand cut and sewn on the fabric. There are two small holes in the canton, both at the edge of a star on the right hand side. The short horizontal red bar has two small holes, the white bar has two small holes and the long red bar has three holes. The white bar also has some staining, it looks like the flag has been folded and stored for a long period and stain bled through from one spot to the other. While it does have a few small holes and some staining, this flag has some great display power! it would definitely add some color and pop to your war room!
